Ultraviolet (Steve Ellis - clarinet, sax, diatonic accordion; Geoff Beilby - guitar, chromatic accordion; Marion Ludwig - diatonic accordion, flute) play their own original music for French and Breton dance. Their compositions are inspired by the traditional musical forms but with a fusion of many other influences, including classical, Baroque, Parisian café, jazz, Early music, Eastern and tango. The variety of moods they create are designed to fit the many different characters of the dances, but they also aim to offer dancers a new musical perspective through which to express their emotions. Ultraviolet are familiar faces at music and dance events on this side of the Channel, particularly the Kinnersley festivals, but also play at Gennetines and other European festivals.
